Hello and welcome

We are Brighton-based architects offering all our clients bespoke services to fit their needs and budgets and deliver drawing packages that work beyond current building regulations to significantly reduce our impact on the planet. We pride ourselves on maximising the potential of each site and strive to make every project personal and unique. Architecture is not just a set of drawings; it is about design quality and how the final product can be detailed and constructed elegantly, efficiently, and affordably. We have built up a good understanding and relations with local planners and conservation officers, as well as developers and contractors to deliver a variety of buildings in the Midlands, London and Southern Counties.

What we bring to your  project

At Sam Willoughby Architects, we combine RIBA and ARB credentials with a strong reputation built on 5-star client feedback and a 4.9/5 Google rating. Alongside delivering practical, sustainable architectural solutions for homes, developments, and commercial spaces, we also have recognised experience working with listed and conservation buildings. From initial concepts through to completion, we provide tailored guidance at every stage, helping make the architectural process clear, collaborative, and straightforward for your project.

About the practice

Following in the footsteps of his father Keith Willoughby, with whom he spent time working at the beginning of his career, Sam founded the company in 2014. After nearly a decade of working in London on a number of high profile projects including the Battersea Power Station development  for SimpsonHaugh Architects and RHWL (now Aedaas) and the British Pavilion in Shanghai, Sam decided to set up practice to deliver high quality architecture on a smaller scale and spend time with his young family. Sam is RIBA and RAB registered.

We used Sam as part of a kitchen and loft extension we were undertaking on our Victorian home. From the outset the process with Sam was very collaborative and informative - helpful for two renovation novices!

Sam worked closely with us to achieve the design we wanted and with consultation throughout and a willingness to listen to our ideas and incorporate them into the drawings. A great support and would highly recommend to anyone looking to undertake their own home project - our neighbours have already signed him up!
